Role Description

We are currently seeking a Tax Accountant Supervisor/Manager to join our team. If you’re a career-oriented CPA with at least seven years of tax accounting experience in a public accounting firm, this is an excellent opportunity in our Tax Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax return review and preparation, including individual, corporate, partnership, as well as mentoring and training staff. Experience with multi-state tax returns and advanced tax research skills are highly desirable. A passion for mentoring and developing staff is essential. 

 

Position Requirements:

·      CPA with 5-7 years of tax accounting experience with public accounting firm

·      Experience reviewing and preparing 1040, corporate, partnership returns, and multistate returns.

·      Strong tax research skills.

·      Experience with Thompson Reuters (UltraTax CS) and WorkPaper CS is a plus

·      Strong Excel skills

·      Willingness and ability to train and mentor staff required

·      Strong work ethic, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.

·      Outstanding communication and interpersonal client relations skills

·      Great attitude and a willingness to do whatever it takes to deliver excellent client servic

·      Ability to work tax season hours between January and April 15th including some weekends 

·      Experience working within a small business

And it's you know, they got some UI that I like. But they they also, you know, I said, oh, well, look at this. You apply and you stay right on the site. And, you know, I don't know. I don't really know. I kind of was on the job here and then I clicked apply, but I kind of stay on the same job. But my thing was as I started looking at it, and I said, what is with, you know, I don't know, these, companies. They also say they have a, sure. I'm not sure how to get back to the Swooped regular home page here. Okay. So that's Swooped. I don't wanna go to the log on. I just wanna go to the home page. Anyways, I start typing in some normal companies like, Morgan Stanley. No jobs. Let's go to Jenny. Type in there's a bunch of jobs at Morgan Stanley. Type in, Meta. A bunch of jobs at Meta. Type in Meta over here. Meta plan. Type in Google. No jobs. Let's see. Google. Yeah. Bunch of jobs at Google. So I guess I don't know what these jobs are on Swooped. And Swoop makes it so you just 1 click apply. You could apply to a 100 jobs. You know, I'm looking at their, you know, their Facebook ads and, you know, they're they're talking about how you know, here's 1. You know, you Supplying to a 100 jobs. There's an AI tool that does it for you in a couple hours. I don't it's just, I guess, I'm not sure what jobs what jobs they I don't I just I just don't really know what jobs are on here. Demand, gen, vice, and see if a book see I don't know. I'm it just seems like they're very limited on the jobs there. We Jenny's scraping the entire Internet. We got, currently, this many live jobs on there. And you can't auto apply on Jay because we don't we're not connected directly to him. And and, really, what you're supposed to do is go to the go to the company site and apply through there. That's what we're trying to facilitate, and that's where you really gotta apply if you wanna get a job. You gotta go to the ATS system. You gotta go to the corporate page. You don't apply through LinkedIn. You don't apply through Indeed. They track where these are coming from. If you're just clicking apply, apply, apply through different job boards, and it's pushing your application to their system, they know that, and they value it less. So if you want, this is a forum you could reply.

PROGRAM MANAGER, UPWARD BOUND, Wheelock School of Education and Human Development, Upward Bound

 

Upward Bound at Boston University is a federally funded TRIO program, whose purpose is to prepare 86 low-income and first-generation college bound students for success in higher education. The goal of the program is to prepare students for success in college. Students enter the program in either grade 9 or 10 and continue in the program through high school graduation. Program services include an academically rigorous six-week summer residential program, as well as afternoon classes and tutoring during the school year. Applicants must attend one of five target high schools: Brighton High, English High, Community Academy of Science and Health, Margarita Muniz Academy and Snowden High; or live in one of four target neighborhoods: Dorchester, East Boston, Mattapan and Roxbury. Job Description

The Boston University Upward Bound Program Manager has both management and direct service responsibilities including the development of the program's curriculum; working with the Upward Bound Math Science program manager to hire, train, and supervise program teachers; providing college application, financial aid application and academic advising and support services to participants; arranging college visits; conferring with program teachers and teachers at target high schools regarding student achievement; management of participant academic assessments; connect across departments and units at BU and the community through website content creation and social media; and supporting project director in the preparation of project reports, participant recruitment, and liaising with parents of project participants and staff at target schools.

Required Skills

Educational Requirements:

 

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferable with education or relevant coursework.

 

Required Experience:

·     Three to five years of experience working with first-generation college potential or low-income populations in an educational setting.

·     Two to three years of staff supervision, program evaluation, and curriculum development.

·     Ability to communicate students' needs in a variety of subject areas to program staff, University faculty and graduate students, high school teachers and counselors and administrators.

·     Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail.

·     Demonstrated experience and interest in working with underserved and disadvantaged youth.

·     Although not required, preference will be given to applicants who speak multiple languages.

·     Applicants with experience with Upward Bound, TRIO or similar educational opportunity or access programs are also encouraged to apply.
